Captain John Walters is the owner and lead captain at Port Fishing Charters, bringing decades of hands-on experience to every trip. As a third-generation fisherman from Florida’s Space Coast, John has been developing his skills since the early 1980s. His deep knowledge of the local waters and dedication to fishing have earned him several tournament wins, including three consecutive Tripletail championships and notable performances in Kingfish competitions. This background allows him to craft personalized fishing experiences tailored to each guest’s interests.

Known for his adaptable fishing style, Captain John targets whatever species are most active on any given day. He often uses live shrimp near the jetties and docks in Port Canaveral, increasing guests’ chances to catch a wide variety of fish. His enthusiasm for the sport is matched by his commitment to sharing it with others, making each outing enjoyable and memorable. Captain John operates a well-maintained 22-foot Sea Pro center console bay boat, designed to provide a comfortable and efficient fishing platform. The boat accommodates up to four passengers and features modern upgrades following a 2016 restoration. Powered by a 150HP Yamaha engine, it reaches speeds up to 40 knots, allowing quick access to prime fishing spots. The spacious layout and stable design make it ideal for both inshore and nearshore trips, giving anglers plenty of room to fish and move around comfortably.
